Microcredit is the extension of small loans and other financial services (such as savings accounts) to the very poor. This allows them to pursue entrepreneurial projects that generate extra income, thus helping them to better provide for themselves and their families.

Professor Muhammad Yunus, a Bangladeshi banker, economist and Professor of Economics conceived the concept of Microcredit, for which he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006.

Dr Yunus will address our high school students as well as any and all interested persons on January 18th, 2013 at 12:00PM at the Kellogg Conference Center on Tuskegee's campus.
