Dear BTW Students & Family,
Due to the Coronavirus (COVID 19) we will complete the remainder of the school year virtually. This is a precautionary measure for the safety of students and staff. Therefore, our daily structure has changed. Even though we are not on campus, we are still committed to supporting you during your school journey. All of us are working to figure out how to finish out this school year strong. We want all of you to stay safe and healthy during this time. Some things you can do to assist with this happening are to:
- Limit social media use- The updates can be confusing. Be positive by doing these things: read, journal, write poetry or short stories, listen to/create music
- Set a routine- You are still in school and need to be able to function daily to focus and complete your assignments
- Talk about how you are feeling-sometimes it helps just to say it out loud
- Stick to the facts rather than opinions
- Spend time with your family and the elderly –This is a good time to play games, watch movies or tv, make crafts, sing, dance and go for walks. (After you have completed your daily school assignments!)
- Don’t compare your situation to others’- This may look different in every house.
- Eat healthy- Junk food increases anxiety and moodiness!
- Reach out to your school counselor- Just like you are at home working, your school counselor is working at home, too. Reach out to us through our school emails and the number/messaging portal I contact you through. We will have virtual office hours of contact and those hours beginning April 7, 2020 will be from 1:00 p.m. -3:00p.m. I will send reminders of important dates (that I am aware of) via my webpage/School Status, which may be in the form of a text message, email, typed announcement or phone call. This is also the program/portal that will be used for individual sessions during my set virtual office hours. We are just a few sentences away!
Sincerely,
The Counseling Department
