Review the Alabama Literacy Act Presentation Notes for Parents.

For more details, please see the complete legislation.

Parent and School partnerships are fundamental to student success. The Alabama State Department of Education along with guidance from the Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI) department suggests building a strong foundation in the following areas: Phonological Awareness, Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary, and Comprehension to support your child's literacyInitiative learning. See the Read At Home Plan.

The Reading Foundation suggests reading with a child every day builds strong minds and strong relationships. Check out the brochure offering tips to explore reading at home with your school age child.
