The Superintendent's Excellence Awards Brunch was held at Tuskegee Institute Middle School on May 6, 2013 at 9;30 AM.
With Dr. Venesia McClaney serving as Event Coordinator, Mrs. Emma Wilson-James taking the lead as Food Services Coordinator and Mr. John Curry presiding over the event, parents, students, School Board Members as well as faculty and staff were treated to a delicious breakfast.
Following the feast of traditional Southern breakfast entrees, outstanding students representing all the schools in the Macon County System, and their parents, were recognized by Dr. Jacqueline Brooks, Superintendent.
The parents who had been recognized as Parents of the Month were awarded Certificates first, followed by students who had been recognized as Students of the Month.
A special award from the Transportation department was presented to four students who rescued a school bus driver who was experiencing a medical emergency.
Academic achievement awards were presented to students who scored high on the ACT exam, followed by the Votectitorian from Booker T. Washington High School and the Salutatorians and the Valedictorians from Booker T. Washington and Notasulga High Schools.
The Tuskegee News was recognized for their work and contributions to the Macon County Area.
