Macon County Schools
Institute Day, 2012
August 15, 2012

"It's like a family reunion.", quipped a Macon County School System employee as teachers, administrators, support staff and school board members greeted each other after the summer break.  There was a celebratory atmosphere in the air as employees waited in line for ID photographs and prepared Tuskegee Institute Middle School for the two-day, Institute Day, event.

The reason for the celebratory mood was the recent announcement from the Superintendent's Office.  Macon County Schools achieved 100% AYP, meaning all Macon County Schools met adequate yearly progress.

All schools scored high in critical areas, like math, reading and attendance, surpassing some neighboring, more highly-touted school systems.

After a delicious meal of hamburgers, hot dogs, barbecued chicken, corn on the cob and tossed salad, employees were surprised with an awards ceremony, recognizing their achievements.  Schools were awarded individually and collectively, while enjoying music by the D'zyre Band, a premier local group of  entertainment professionals.

Congratulations to the School Board Members, Dr. Jacqueline Brooks, The School Improvement Team, Principals, Teachers, Support Staff, Child Nutrition, Bus Drivers, Parents and Students!
