A Journey In The Key Of Life...
Directed by: Mrs. Guenada Meaux-Lambert (Camp Director)
On last week students from the secondary schools in Macon County had the opportunity to fellowship with students from Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Mississippi, New York, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
These students worked on a Theatrical Production on the campus of Alabama State University. All attendees were apart of the Camp 3T Performance Camp. This program is in year 20 and is moving strong in its efforts of connecting students to the Culture of Art through Dance, Rhythmic Expression, Rhyme, and Voice.
Dr. Tonea Stewart - Dean of the College of Art and Sciences at Alabama State University has invested countless years developing her talent and now uses her invaluable abilities to share the appreciation for Art and Culture with students across America. Macon County Public Schools has been fortunate to have sponsored via grants over 50 students to attend ASU during the summer within the past two years. Friends of Theatre, Alabama Arts Alliance, Local Administration, and Community Supports all work together to make this happen.
The eclectic celebration of talent ended on Saturday; June 29, 2013 in the Oliver-Dunn Acadome on the campus of Alabama State University. The students demonstrated every earthly power known to man of their expressiveness. The highlight from this event was all of the students performing back up vocals for Gospel Songstress - Mrs. Vanessa Bell Armstrong. Also featured, was Gospel Artist Rev. Richard Smallwood. Again, the students provided musical talents for both performers.
Let's continue to support our Arts in Education. This performance alone stands reason enough for all students to be given the opportunity to express themselves individually and collectively. Saturday's event was a pure demonstration of individual differences, collaboration of minds and opinions, and mostly a shared vision of art and its multifaceted oar. Yes, students do learn from each other; they do it through the Arts.
