Macon County Schools
STEM Advancements In Career Tech
WRITTEN BY Melvin Lowe ON October 30, 2013
The Career and Technical Education Programs in the Macon County School System continues to improve its program's offerings. For the past 4 years Macon County has participated in BEST (Boosting Engineering Science and Technology) Robotics. From all of the accomplishments that have been made many of them have been observed by our corporate supporters. AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association) has continued to support STEM Initiatives in this school district based on our student's performance and program expansions. We have graduated students from our school system who have successfully matriculated through 4 year colleges; yet earning degrees in STEM areas (Engineering). Yes, we have to data to support our efforts...

On yesterday Mr. Christopher Clark, Mr. William Turner, and Mr. Tracy Stacy where invited and recognized at the AFCEA Breakfast held in Montgomery at the Wynlakes Country Club. Their program accomplishments were noted as well as their tireless support towards their student's achievements. Each of these gentlemen are STEM Educators via our Career Tech Programs.

Ms. Charisse D. Stokes - VP, Cybersecurity and Network Management; Telos Corporation was present to make this acknowledgement of their dedication to the STEM community. The school district was also represented by Dr. Melvin A. Lowe, III - Edu. Coordinator for his efforts and leadership of these programs and initiatives. Within the past 4 years STEM Education Initiatives in Macon County has received in excess of grants over $162,350.00. We have been able to provide professional development for staff, student extended day learning experiences, purchase additional technology to include interactive programming software, and untimely support our Robotics Program. All initiatives have received superior support and encouragement from Dr. Jacqueline A. Brooks - Superintendent of Education.
