Professional Development

The Macon County Board of Education has a strong commitment to ensure that all employees are provided ongoing professional development. Teachers are expected to use professional development to ultimately improve teaching and learning.

The Macon County School District's Personnel Records Policy is outlined in details in Section 5.5 of the Macon County Schools' Policy Manual. Below you will find the written policy.

5.5 Professional Development

The Superintendent will develop and implement an ongoing program of professional training and development that is designed to enhance the competencies of professional and support staff. Employee attendance and participation in such training institutes, workshops, seminars, and programs may be made mandatory by the Superintendent. The unexcused failure of an employee to attend or participate in such professional development activities may constitute grounds for termination of employment or other disciplinary actions.

Through EDUCATE Alabama/LEAD Alabama, educators and leaders are formatively assessed and monitored, with provision made for quality professional development opportunities. Professional development records are stored in STI Professional Development (STIPD). STIPD can be accessed by going to https://pdweb.alsde.edu/
