Teacher Certification
All classroom teachers must have a valid Alabama professional educators certificate. Human Resources personnel is responsible for ensuring that all teachers are certified in assigned field as well as being Highly Qualified (HQ) in core subjects as required by the State Board of Education (SBE).
Individuals who present valid professional educator certificates earned from other states, and meet SBE test requirements may apply for Alabama certification. Individuals who meet alternative approach criteria adopted by the SBE may also apply for alternative approach and professional educator certificates.
For those classified/support positions that require specific skills and/or training, the Human Resources Department will ensure the validity of such documents.
